Clemens Wirth, from Austria does some amazing work with his macro 65mm lense and 5DmarkII camera… It leaves me perplexed how he captured some of this.

Don’t let this escape the “daily-dose-of-inspiration-right-before-you-get-coffee-but-after-you’ve-checked-your-email” part of your day. Simply incredible. Those students and faculty at BYU have a lot to be proud of.
You can read more about it at The Font Feed.

The Hoverboard is real! Someone call Marty McFly, and tell him we’ve found his board.

This is my favorite music video, ever. Jónsi’s (formerly of Sigur Rós) music, already cinematic in scope, is paired perfectly with this kind of artistic film. arni & kinski directed this video, along with Sigur Ros’ Glosoli.

This is by far the coolest typographic sequence I’ve ever seen in motion, from German motion artist Sebastian Lange. I’m inspired/shamed/excited/awed/humbled all at once. It also proves that Helvetica still kicks ass.
Enjoy more of his work here.

South Asian Book Covers
These are definitely worth a look. From ephemera assemblymen:
This is a dual post with Will, from the great A Journey Around My Skull. All of these magnificent covers come courtesy of Quinn Dombrowski’s impressive South Asian books project, in which she photographs book covers from the “PK” section (Indo-Iranian languages and literatures) of the University of...

HDR Crash Course
By now, if you haven’t yet heard of HDR, or High Dynamic Resolution, you probably have at least run across images that seem like they couldn’t have been taken with a normal camera. It’s a process that has opened up huge artistic possibilities in the realm of digital photography and really has me excited. So is it complicated? Nah, it’s just a set of techniques that allow a greater...

Lunches around the studio can get pretty crazy, especially when several people come armed with an iPhone Lightsaber App. It all seemed relatively under control until Darth Tim grabbed the Dark Monkey Head, and rained pure rage upon all the combatants.
Please forgive the quality…it was recorded off an iPhone. What else?

Local Art Thingies
These sculptures were spotted right outside our studio. Scared the living daylights out of me and my iced white mocha…probably because of my recurring dream where I’m attacked by monstrous cowboy robots made from mailboxes and old welding masks. More after the jump.

Oppidan Series : Brandon Hill
Brandon Hill (along with Arthur Cherry and JR Caines) have been constant friends of the crew at Faceout Studio. We’ve watched each other tackle new projects, improve our individual hobbies, and embrace new ways to waste time. Having this kind of interaction with other talented designers is a constant source of inspiration and encouragement.
Brandon has been working on his photography...

The weather in Bend, Oregon (wherein we reside) changes as often your teenage sister’s Myspace background. That means a lot. Here’s a peek from yesterday. For context, we had a full blizzard, followed by a cloudless sunshine, and then some hail to end the day.
