Since 2008, Faceout Studio has been invited by the Shanghai Press and Publication Administration to participate in China’s annual competition, “The Beauty of Books in China” as both a judge and event lecturer. Torrey Sharp visited Shanghai in 2008 giving three lectures and visiting a prominent...

Wrapped production on The Struggle
Faceout wrapped production on a new book trailer last week for Barbour. Faceout will be making a splash with it’s film division at the beginning of the year. Stay tuned.
Charles returning to Shanghai
Charles returns to Shanghai this week to present a workshop and help judge China’s annual book show. This marks Faceout’s fourth year of engagement with Shanghai’s Press and Publication Administration. Faceout is working on a film documentary that will showcase Chinese book making. Scheduled for production in 2012.
We were happy to see Kirk DouPonce of DogEared Design last week. Kirk used to work in our studio years ago. For old time’s sake he showed us he still has the moves.

This is my favorite music video, ever. Jónsi’s (formerly of Sigur Rós) music, already cinematic in scope, is paired perfectly with this kind of artistic film. arni & kinski directed this video, along with Sigur Ros’ Glosoli.

South Asian Book Covers
These are definitely worth a look. From ephemera assemblymen:
This is a dual post with Will, from the great A Journey Around My Skull. All of these magnificent covers come courtesy of Quinn Dombrowski’s impressive South Asian books project, in which she photographs book covers from the “PK” section (Indo-Iranian languages and literatures) of the University of...

HDR Crash Course
By now, if you haven’t yet heard of HDR, or High Dynamic Resolution, you probably have at least run across images that seem like they couldn’t have been taken with a normal camera. It’s a process that has opened up huge artistic possibilities in the realm of digital photography and really has me excited. So is it complicated?
