Since moving to Bend, nights after work have involved a lot more beer and, uh, bowling than was previously the norm. The two were combined last night when Faceout Studio was challenged to a Bowling 4 Beer gig down at the local alley by the great group of folks over at TBD Advertising.
The winning group had to buy the non-winning group beer at the Deschutes Brewery Pub. We rallied and won by the narrowest of margins. Our average bowler score was 104.85. The TBD crew netted an average of 104.35. By the time they demanded a recount, we were already at Deschutes Brewery working on our second round of their now famous Jubel 2010.
Let’s all enjoy these Star Wars Travel Posters, by Justin Van Genderen. In the repressed, fanboy part of my brain, there is much rejoicing. If only flights were currently being booked. You also might like these.
Thanks to Garrett Murray for the heads up.
Superhuman Proofreaders
- Michel Vrana: I admire the eye of the proofreader who can see an italic comma that should be roman. Wow.
- Nate Salciccioli: I've also had an italic 'period' pointed out to me, which just doesn't make sense...
- Michel Vrana: It's the italic spaces that really impress me.
We made blood in the studio yesterday. I can’t tell you why. All I can tell you is that it tasted a lot like Corn Syrup, Cocoa Powder, and red/blue food dye. Mmmmm boy….
Torrey recently returned from the 2010 Olympic Games. You can see some of his pictures on our Flickr stream.
His impressions? “It was colder than Beijing.”
We just got another project back in the mail; the nice folks at Algonquin were nice enough to send us a few copies of each of the books we’d designed for them last season. It was a really nice surprise!
The Girl Who Fell From the Sky was designed and illustrated by the very talented Connie Gabbert. You can see more pictures on our Flickr Stream.
We go through a lot of music in the studio, and Pandora has been invaluable in keeping the music fresh and varied. In fact, we love Pandora so much that we’ve started our own Faceout Pandora Station. Feel free to tune in!
p.s. you have to be logged in to Pandora to use it. But isn’t that the point?
First, let’s all agree that this doesn’t make sense. Second, let’s all agree that IT IS WONDERFUL. I don’t think there’s a practical application, but I can sense a lot of love from some guy with a welding torch.
