Ryan Katrina certainly has his hands full, with clients like Maxim Magazine, Daimler-Chrysler, Budweiser, and others. How refreshing to see he still has time to create pretty things. His site really is worth a look.

Michel Vrana (formerly of Black Eye Design) just recently launched a new website. Quite frankly, it’s my favorite book design portfolio I’ve seen. I especially like how he’s integrated a short rationale/story for each of his designs.
Check it out.

Recently stumbled across the work of Jennifer Heuer when Twitter alerted us that she was following our tweets (which are @faceoutstudio, if you want to know). What stunning work. Some designers just amaze with their versatility.
Check out her site.

Who knew there was a whole community of artists creating illustrations for their favorite books…just for fun? I should have known about this earlier, as all of them seem to be fans of The Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy and The Hobbit, which let’s me know we could all totally hang out at my mom’s house.
Please enjoy Picture Book Report.

Ah, I just love good Blackletter type. There is a big difference between good blackletter and bad blackletter, trust me. This specimen is from I Love Typography, a wonderful site that serves as an authoritative introduction to typography.

One of the better blog experiences to be had: A Journey Round My Skull. I never get bored looking at this stuff…

Don’t Mess With the Iron Penguin…

Charles recently pointed me towards the amazing 1/6 scale artistry of Kow Yokoyama. With an obsessive attention to detail, Kow turns the stock white toys (pictured above on the left) into bad-ass pieces of mechanical warfare. View more pieces after the jump.

Homo Ferratus is a blog dedicated to Kow’s work. Check it out here.

Tim’s Cousin Takes Great Photos

Tim Green’s cousin Molly Winn takes some nice shots, sure, but what I really appreciate about her work is the in the moment-ness she captures. All of her shots feel candid and honest. View more pictures after the jump. Also, the above picture is Tim’s son Silas, and his cousin James.

You can visit Molly’s blog here.

Let’s all enjoy these Star Wars Travel Posters, by Justin Van Genderen. In the repressed, fanboy part of my brain, there is much rejoicing. If only flights were currently being booked. You also might like these.
Thanks to Garrett Murray for the heads up.

We go through a lot of music in the studio, and Pandora has been invaluable in keeping the music fresh and varied. In fact, we love Pandora so much that we’ve started our own Faceout Pandora Station. Feel free to tune in!
p.s. you have to be logged in to Pandora to use it. But isn’t that the point?
