Some Tips for discerning travelers who plan on visiting Bend, Oregon:
- Stay away from local museums with a western theme. Overrated.
- Trader Joe’s is still a big deal here. FYI.
- The best coffee in town is at THUMP COFFEE.
We need coffee every morning, and drink a ton of it. The fact that we’re completely happy to pay at least $1.00 more for Thump Coffee on special occasions lets you know how good it is. Great atmosphere too.
Check out Thump’s Website, or Stumptown, who roasts all their beans in Portland.
Mom, if you’re reading this…my birthday is coming up…
Birthday lunches are a tradition around here. We all gather together, sign a ridiculous birthday card (usually with a cat on the front) pick a location, and party for hour on end (yes, hour).
This time Kelly Vlach and Lindsey Brunsman were the happy birthday people, and chose the newly opened 10 Barrel Brewing Company. Here’s what they have to say about themselves:
A new day has arrived in the Beer Mecca of the Northwest and 10 Barrel Brewing Co. is leading the fight for the cause. Fueled with the desire to reshape the craft beer landscape of Bend, Or., the team at 10 Barrel is using their handcrafted ales to reach the masses and fine beer connoisseurs alike.
Whether that’s all true or not, I can tell you one thing: they have amazing food. If you ever make the trip to Bend (we have mountains!) you need to stop by. And give us a call; we’ll grab a beer.
