Jekyll & Hyde Project

Cover design: Lindy Martin

Last year our studio set out to design our own versions of several public domain classics. Our first book is designed and typeset by Lindy Martin. Each of these public domain books will fall under our newly crafted imprint, Past Due Books. The idea behind “Past Due Books” is simply that the books we most cherish, we read over and over …. often leading to them being “past due.” We all remember those past due notes from libraries with related fines!

We will continue to repackage our favorite public domain books, putting our own spin on the design approach. These books are available for sale on our Faceout Store site or on Amazon. See links below. But before you jump there, see LIndy’s note about her process.

Comments from Lindy:

I chose this project because I wanted to put an unexpected spin on one of my favorite classic mystery novels. I wanted to explore the idea of hiding in unexpected ways, using patterns and vibrating colors to show how identity is constantly shifting and adapting. The handmade letters give this a personal touch and block print effect that is difficult to achieve through digital medium. I designed the interior to be airy, bold, and well-typeset to allow the most streamlined reading experience of this delightfully dark book.
